This Firewire 1394b to 1394a cable is used to connect a Firewire 800 controller with a 9-pin connector to a 1394a Firewire device with a 4-pin connector.

Please note that many Firewire 1394a devices (including DV cameras) are not compatible with Firewire 1394b. The Firewire 1394a device must support the Firewire 1394a 400Mbit/s standard to be compatible. Many older firewire devices support only the 100 and 200Mbit/s standard and will not function with a Firewire 1394b port. Digital Video Cameras supporting Sony i.Link S400 are generally compatible. Sony i.Link S100 and S200 are not supported. Please check your device manual for compatibility information.
